What is your name?
EmmaJo Many Guns
Do you have a Blackfoot name? What is it?
Yes, it is Little Blanket Woman
Why did you want to run for princess?
Running for Jr. Miss Blackfoot Canada had always been a dream of mine. I finally gained the courage to go after it. I ran because I wanted to be able to show case and represent my people and our culture. My culture is very important to me and I thought at my age what better way to represent my people than to be Jr. Miss Blackfoot Canada.
Now that your year is almost up, what was your favourite memory?
I have had many amazing memories that I will cherish forever and mostly the people that I have been able to meet. My aunty, sibling and I travel a lot and we love to powwow. My favourite from my reign was Heart butte powwow. It was small, humble and I met a lot of friends there. The heat was something else and the specials we danced in where different and fun. I also had the opportunity to meet a lot of relatives that I didn’t know I had.
Do you want to run for any more titles? If so, what ones?
Yes, Definitely. I would love to run for Sr. Miss Piikani because representing my home and community would be something very special to me. It would be an honour and a privilege to travel and share Piikani with the powwow circles around the world. I would also like to run for Kamloopa, Manito Ahbee, Calgary Stampede First Nations Princess and maybe even some day Miss Indian world. The sky is the limit and all I can do is try reach for my dreams.
What do you want to be when you grow up? And why?
When I was little, I always wanted to be a cop because my uncle Jeremiah is a cop; I really look up to him. But the future is aways off and I may change my mind. Until then I will just focus on school, hockey and basketball, riding horses, traveling, going to powwows and enjoying all of what being young has to offer.
Who is one of your role models?
I have many role models. My Pow Wow role models are Alicia Cardinal and Shirly Hill, they are amazing fancy dancers. Like I said before my uncle Jeremiah. My big sister Macyn, I look up to her for all the wonderful things she does.
