Fresh Routes mobile market makes a stop in Piikani for the month of October.
Fresh Routes mobile market is brought to you by Aakom-Kiyii Health Services to provide the community with fresh and affordable vegetables.
“We heard of its success in Morley,” Dietitian Jenny Egilsson said.
“We thought it was a great opportunity for community members to have easy access to fresh vegetables at better prices,” she added.
Every Tuesday for the month of October community members drive up to the mobile grocery store at the community hall to pick up a pre-packaged fresh basket.
Customers also have the ability to build their own basket from the selection of fresh produce that is on display.
Fresh Routes is a not-for-profit located in Calgary that is focusing on creating innovating ways that will ensure everyone has access to healthy and affordable food.
“In the townsite of Brocket there is no place to access fresh food, so at least right now we can save people from having to run to town to get their produce,” Egilsson said.
The mobile grocery store also provides a loaf of bread and a carton of eggs.
