COVID-19 update for May 22.

Information provided by Aakom-Kiyii Health Services.

South Zone is averaging an increase of 2-3 new cases per day. Government of Alberta/AHS is still recommending everyone avoid non-essential travel to different areas of the province and to other provinces.

With the province opening back up, cultural and religious gatherings will be starting again and attendance will grow. Research shows that singing loudly can produce droplets that hang in the air (similar to coughs and sneezes) which could potentially spread COVID-19 from a positive case. Singers are encouraged to stay more than 6 feet apart from each other and other people in attendance.

Next Drive-Thru - May 29th
We are changing our isolation recommendations to encourage more asymptomatic testing:

  • People who have COVID-19 symptoms and get swabbed are strongly recommended to isolate for 10 days to monitor symptoms.
  • People who have been in contact with a positive case and get swabbed need to isolate for 14 days to monitor for symptoms.
  • People who have NO symptoms and get swabbed do not need to isolate as they wait for results.
