Jason Johnson has been working in the entertainment industry for over 20 years as an principle actor.
He has also been performing stand up comedy in venues like Yuk Yuk’s and Broken City in Calgary.

Now he wants to use his experience and create a small business that will provide mobile DJing, event hosting and keynote speaking.

How long has it been since you started your business?
I launched the business in September 2018 so I’ve only been in business for a few months now. To this day I have had a few gigs including doing a Halloween dance at my daughter’s middle school, a Sweet 16 on Siksika Nation and a corporate Christmas party. With graduation season coming up I want to introduce myself to First Nations schools and hopefully be a speaker at their ceremonies
and inspire new graduates.

Why did you want to start your own business?
Starting my own business has been a dream of mine for a long time. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit so I enjoy starting new things but I wanted to take that to the next level and chart a new course for my family and me.
I also like the responsibility, creativity and flexibility that owning and running your own business brings. Your success rests thoroughly on your own shoulders: how hard you work will determine how far you get and I like that. This is scary but also empowering!

What are some successes and highlights you’ve have?
The biggest highlight is the satisfaction of finally finding my passion in life and starting my own business that allows me to live that out. A close second is seeing how supportive my family is. We’re all excited to see Eagle Feather Entertainment take off and become a thriving, self-supporting family-owned and run business.
I really want to thank Piikani Resource Development and

their Grant Equity Program. They provided me the necessary seed money to get my business off the ground and to the next level.

What are some challenges you faced?
My challenges are like any other entrepreneur that is getting the word out about my business and finding and securing new contacts while creating enough momentum to make my income meet and exceed my expenses.

What services does your business provide?
As I said already, I provide three main services: mobile DJ, Event Hosting and Keynote Speaking. I also do Voice Over (I have my own home recording studio,) and I’m available for Principal, Supporting and Background acting for TV and film.
